Dixon Smith's Coupe (2 seater) has a boot. But I know the car had a factory rebuild many years ago, so whether the boot is original I'm not certain. Don't you just love Morgan history! I reckon it's fairly safe to just make it up - they'll usually be a circumstance when it's right Oh yes, I'll bet you are glad you don't have to teach it or Morganista In fairness, I make most of that up too......

Err Graham - Dixon Smiths car is actually a four seater? Arwyn It's on the front cover of this month's Miscellany. I called it a SnobMog once, to be told "no, it's a coupe". Eeeh, I love Morgan history! You may well be correct on the 4 seats Arwyn. I'll have a closer look when Dixon, or Greg Dixon-Smith, bring it to Prescott next.

It's not clear from any of the pictures though. Getting back on subject, is it confirmed that the DHC sold on Bangers & Cash was a two-seater? If so, then all that talk on the programme and in the auction hall of it being 1 of only 4 surviving was (to coin a word) bollocks. Yes - Morgan history! How can it be so hard to know how many seats a model has?

K Good point Keith! Thanks Ian. Haven't opened Miscellany yet - other periodicals arrived at same time. I have ridden in Dixon's DHC (up Prescott) and I can't remember the interior behind driver/passenger, but I do remember the boot and location of spare wheel. As for comment on the programme's "chatter" I don't think it matters what car they are on about, your "b" word is in the main, correct

The SnobMog page lists 51 made with a large number still in existance. If it was just the Mathewson bloke, then I would not be surprised, as he constantly talks bollocks, but I thought MacDonald was a Morgan specialist?

Is it possible (not trying to defend the tv nonsense talk in any way... I've had contact with "reality" shows presenters and guests three times and on each occasion utter nonsense was talked and defended as making the tv show interesting) But is it possible that if you take that soecific model year with that specific radiator size etc. there could maybe be only a few with that specific spec left?

I do find the programme a source of entertainment, and take a lot of the 'fountain of knowledge' with a strong pinch of salt, as their business is all about earning commission on sales results and how to maximise the sales price achieved for the seller and the resultant commission.
Its a simple 'Caveat emptor' buyer beware, and to do your homework before buying. Whilst I don't think they would intentionally misrepresent something, I think they sometimes rely too heavily on the seller's representations as to the uniqueness of something, as in this case.

Export cars got the TR2 engine, UK spec cars had the Vanguard engines. Mine is a UK car which was imported into the States circa 1969 by the late Bill Fink and then returned to the UK circa 2007 in very poor condition. Even though they are a 4 seater they are actually built on a 2 seater chassis. With a new body frame and panelling, I'm probably 10 grand down already but the end result will be worth it. Arwyn
