Thank you all for the help with the photos. Here are 2 more of the shift lever: ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/06/1964-shift-lever-3.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/06/1964-shift-lever-2.jpeg) Hi Arwyn, I've been doing some research but I'm still not quite sure what the major differences are between the 4/4 and the Plus 4. Post a picture of the engine in your car. Most likely a Ford Kent 1500 pre crossflow. A +4 would have a Triumph engine.

I haven’t purchased it yet. I’m going to try and get up to see it tomorrow. I’ll try to take some photos and post them.

The dashboard looks like a 4/4 to me , let alone the remote gear lever . As Arwyn has said look at the engine bay and find out what engine is fitted . All 1960s +4s have a big Triumph TR engine, take some pictures and post them here if you cannot identify it and we will help.
I think it is much more likely you will find a Ford engine , not sure which one , I think a 1964 car will be a Series 5 with a 1500cc non-crossflow power unit (unless it has been changed ) as fitted to the Ford Cortina of that era.

Hi Andy,
That seems to be the consensus of opinion is that it's a 4/4. I spoke to the owner today and he seems to think there's a ford motor in it, which would confirm the 4/4. I still may go take a look at it tomorrow and see what kind of shape it's in. The other one I'm interested in is a '61 Plus 4 that has been modified to a Supersport Clone, Webers etc. Some of the work looks decent, some, not so much.
Thanks again for everyone's help.
Joe

Definitely a 4/4 then, not a +4...

It looks like this one is going to need a whole lot of work. I may go back to the ‘61 Plus 4 that is still available. It’s had several “super sports” clone type modifications. Then there’s a’62 Austin Healey 3000 that looks like it’s in pretty decent shape.
