Just to clarify the screw thread:
The bottom lug advertised by Mogparts is advertised with a UNF thread for ‘96 onwards.
Recent posts above now refer to 3/8 BSF. Is that for older models, as BSF and UNF are not compatible.
One might assume that BSF would have been used throughout history on a British car!

Correct

Pre 1996 used 3/8 BSF, post 1996 used 3/8 UNF.

3/8 BSF has 20 tpi , 3/8 UNF has 24 tpi

Best to email Terry at the moment. He has been off poorly for a few weeks now, and only gets in infrequently to post internet orders.

You need a length of 3/8 605M36T and a 3/8 BSF die and stock

Alternatively Terry Foxen at GEE will be able to help as he supplies them with the new crossheads he has made for me

Kind regards

Arwyn

Appreciate the advice but considering the "proper" bar snapped around 14,000 miles and my version has now done well over 54,000 miles, I know which one I will stick with.

I now have the car back on the road, fortunately Brands Hatch Morgan had the parts in stock for one side and I will replace the other side when the parts ordered arrive.

BHM were very helpful and made sure all the fittings went together well before I left, which was a nice touch.

As I replaced the crosshead strut bar and mounting foot together I made the leap to the later UNF threaded parts, for reference that is the only difference, they fit fine on an earlier car.

I did call other Morgan parts suppliers a few times and sent polite detailed emails requesting parts, unfortunately I have not had any response.

Many thanks to all who responded to my post on here with helpful advice.

So joy oh joy on refitting the rad I spotted that the passenger side stay was spanned at the bottom. I hate , I really hate the A12. New one on order.

Ray - agreed!

You never have a short telephone call with Terry!

Some of his stories are absolutely hilarious as well!

The bits are here so I'll fit them at the weekend & hide from the rain. Not the best photo but you can see the broken end by the bit it fits into on the cross head.
