Try looking at Simply Health as they also cover optician, hospital etc even if it`s NHS. Different levels of cover.

Well today I had my annual examination by our old NHS dentist who is now non NHS. The buidig has been painted. New chairs to wait in & lovely TV screens to watch ads for cosmetic dentistry.
When I am in the chair she asks me what I want to do with a broken filled tooth (done by them under the NHS) as it should come out & a crown go in. Kerching I hear. Under the NHS it was fine & would see me out, they had refused effectively to do more.
Money talks obviously.

We followed our dentist from Dartmouth to his new private practise in Totnes, we have a lot of faith in this young Indian family man. The Dartmouth unit closed down as NHS as the three dentist walked into the private sector.
However a similar experience to you was found on the move to Totnes and it cost me 250 smackers to have a front tooth filled..

Well at least you could visit what 30 pubs after that, though I guess most are closed these days.

Down to about 18 now John so not too bad, drinking and getting off your head as popular as ever there everything is available in town.. I feel sorry for the ever increasing number of locals not being able to afford private treatment down here and are going without any now..

The same here, we are far better of than a lot on just the state pension. There is a very strong toothless in Suffolk campaign as people do their own extraxtions etc. My MP the Minister for Turds told me with no NHS dentist "to go to my GP or NHS direct" if I had toothpain.
Our local food banks are v popular & the port of Felixstowe now only pays minimum wage & I believe zero hours contracts. The Tories also want to make it a freeport so the UK labour laws don't apply.
Whoever is in charge needs a good kicking, I dont think the next lot will be different. I lived near the HS2 route thorugh Bucks for 22 years & watched the progress to implementation with amazement given the clear non financial case. To do all that waste & destruction for zero gain whilst the poor suffer really gets to me.

My dentist went private some years ago, no offer of a plan so I just pay as I go. The various payment plans are great news for the practice, giving up front proceeds covering running costs. The same schemes are becoming popular with opticians as well.

Yes we are indeed fortunate to be well furnished for retirement but as you know many in our area are not and like your place the Food Banks are thriving. The vast divide in incomes down here at least has a positive side to it albeit a paradox but we all seem to share and contribute as much as we can in our own small way, but that is all it takes if everyone than can, does a little bit. There is a similar Self Dental Group in Cornwall that has appeared on Spotlight. It will be a relief when the Tories get kicked into touch after so many years of getting rid of assets and investing in White Elephants, I only wish we had a viable alternative, all I hear from Starmer and his Rotweiller is criticism but no real solid alternatives, we shall see in time.

It cant be a pleasant job bending over and breathing in someone's halitosis every day. I am a bit surprised and quite grateful that our dentist hasnt got round to going private yet.
If you can earn more money and work only half as much, then its only sensible to go private. Its a basic management issue that the government hasnt learned. If you give more money to someone who is already earning what he thinks is sufficient, you will usually get less work. That was Blair's error with the doctors and the reason why so many retired early and others went part time after his huge pay rise. In the case of dentists, patient costs to go private are smaller than medical costs would be so the private option is more open than it is with doctors.
