Well today I dodged a few floods and spent more time driving detours than in a straight line but I did manage to see a converted TR8 about 30 miles away (took 2 hours to drive there). Was a pretty decent car but just felt neglected, clanging exhaust, odd warning light on dash, scruffy interior and a bit tatty around the bodywork. Engine was glorious and the ride quite accomplished for a 40 year old car, fairly comfortable. At £8000 a bit rich for me considering the work needed but definitely a model to consider. The blue 7 above is £2000 cheaper and in much much better condition. I'd buy that tomorrow if its as good in the flesh as in the pics. Just too far away!

Grumpy, a suggestion ? That blue car does look very good. Facetime or one of the many video apps could let you have a good view live. Perhaps get him to lick the engine (to prove it is a cold start) and watch for smoke. From the exhaust of course.  Perhaps if the seller is keen you offer to meet him part way. It will be a good test of the car to see it makes it. It will see if they are keen to sell, you are both more committed at that point. Maybe pay the seller some petrol money as a lure to do it and show you are serious? Just trying to see if there is a way we can get you in it. ( we all need to live a little vicariously )

Alistair,
I've arranged to buy a car by meeting in a motorway service station (Telford) twice. Worked out well on both occasions. Mini and Morris Traveller.
Might be worth a try although from chatting with him I get the impression he's a 'take it or leave it' type.

Wifey out today and I was at a loose end so I went over to see it. As good in the flesh as in the pics so a deal has been done to include transport back to my home.
