What is the position regarding the fitting of an oil pressure gauge.
How is it done and what fittings are required.

The gauge I used was an SPA gauge which is digital and shows not only oil pressure but also oil temperature. This was purchased from Merlin Motor Sport (at Castle Coombe) together with the billet adaptor plate and also the extension tube that allows you to mount the oil filter with the billet adaptor plate in position.

I found this gauge to be very useful and very reassuring to know the oil pressure and temperature in real time. I believe there are a few other members that have also done this mod following my initial installation.

This was done from KBMOG's initial development fit and my own experience. Good to see you are still on the forum Keith. If you are a MTWC member you can access all the articles. If not PM me your email and I will try and sort out the info for you. The SPA installation is good but the billet plate can always be used for another gauge fit. It's handy to keep a close eye on what is happening with the oil in your expensive engine, other than just a light to tell you it's melted.

Rather than mess with the oil feed/filter system I used the oil pressure switch port to take a flexible grease gun line to a Tee fitting off of which the sending unit for the oil presssure gauge is mounted AND the S&S oil pressure switch. Seems to work fine and I think I have the merlin sports oil mounting plate is someone is interested in the USA.



The gauge is mounted under the dash below the GPS unit and is to the left of a real fuel gauge.

That is a really smart installation Lightspeed. I like that tucked up out of the way and isolated from the direct vibrations of the engine.

An alternate 52mm analogue dual gauge I had bookmarked from Merlin Motorsport. Click for info.

By modifying the oil filter bracket with two holes and 1/8 npt threads this simplifies the installation of a pressure probe and gauge.

Thank you Planenut, one of the reasons i did it that way was to tuck up the birdsnest of wiring that MMC left behind the oil filter can. Now getting the filter off is a bit easier.
