Who knows? Look at this! https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine...tial-fluid-saf-xjfm-5-liter/83222282583/

https://www.bimmerworld.com/Fluids/...00ml-bottle-E46-M3-E9X-M3-F8X-M3-M4.html

or in the UK

Castrol keeps saying successively, every few years, that a newer and better fluid has, first, replaced the SAF-XJ, then the replacement is replaced and so on.. It was/is also called Syntrax. When I spoke with BTR Dowunder, I got a curt, "we made it clear what you should you use"! , without elaboration. So considering how rarely this the change is needed and how imortant the right fluids are, I use the BMW product. (label above), especially now that the Morgan BTR axles have gone the sad way of the Morgan Salisburys :(, who wants to take a chance? I have used the BMW with BTR approval and haven't had a issue in 100,000 kms. I discretely did not ask them about anything else.

Another update;
FIW I asked Castrol if their new Transmax 75W140 is suitable for this axle. Their reply in Dutch below, plus a translation.

"De opvolger van Castrol SAF XJ is Castrol Transmax Limited Slip LL 75W-140 en heeft dezelfde eigenschappen, het product bevat de LS additieven en is tevens BMW M en Mercedes AMG goedgekeurd"

"The successor to Castrol SAF XJ is Castrol Transmax Limited Slip LL 75W-140 and has the same properties, the product contains LS additives and is also BMW M and Mercedes AMG approved"

This is also what the Dutch Morgan importer uses.
I have driven the car with this oil and its is all quiet at the rear but I have not got the diff up to "working" temp yet. When the weather improves I will and report.

Well I have used Castrol Syntrax and more recently, the newer Transmax, over the past 12 years. They both include additives for LSDs, which my +4 has. I have done almost 50k with no issues.
Think you have nailed it, Better things to worry about in life.
