At some point the spline on centre wiper wheel has been over tightened and damaged to the point where the wiper arm isn't located as securely as I would like.

From experience on other cars they are a sod to change and replacements are around £60 plus postage. I like to fix things if I can too.

It looks to me that the spline is a press fit onto another spied central shaft and I recon I can fabricate a puller to remove and replace the outer spline without taking the wheel box off the car.

These wheel boxes were fitted to all sorts of cars, minis, MGs, Triumphs, Morris Minors. All of these are around £20.

So given the wealth of experience here, does anyone know if the wiper wheel box from another car is the same as the one fitted to Morgans? Melvin suggests that the same wheel box was fitted to all Morgans from 1963 onwards.

Thanks, Gary

Gary, I think someone on TM had success with wheel boxes bought from Car Builder Solutions, but I can't find the thread

Anybody else good at searching previous ?

Holden offer a range of wheel boxes here if it helps.

thanks chaps, although they are basically the same there are at least three significant differences. The number of teeth on the drive wheel, the length of the spindle and the diameter of the spline (and hence number of teeth on the spline)

For my needs the number of teeth and length of the spindle are irrelevant but the diameter of the spline is important.

Take a look at Rimmer Bros online; search on “splined drums” and there are several on offer.
They appear to be for Land Rover Defender but as Morgans have typical LR blades, they may fit. You might need to ring them to get exact size as they don’t quote it online.

You need a box from a sports car with a similar screen confuguration such as MGB or TR. Land Rover might also work.

One example here: https://www.mgocspares.co.uk/produc...later-square-8-sided-nut-type?nodePath=1

Note also that the angled rubber sleeves do also vary......MGB and GT were different boxes and sleeves.

There may be a part number stamped on the casing.

I would second looking at the part number on the original. Googling that got me a new LUCAS one from an Army Surplus supplier - goodness knows what it had been intended for.
