My two cents, salt on the roads is very bad, my experience, even if the road is dry in sunshine and white due to the salt. When it is dry, the pulverised fine salt is distributed over the car. After a single journey 8 years ago with the 4/4 that only lasted an hour, both side mirrors were full of rusty stains after two weeks in the garage. I immediately washed all the salt off the underbody and the chassis on the lift.

I own property on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, basically in the Atlantic Ocean. The aluminium air conditioners. have a life of about 4 years before the salt eats the fins.

Another endorsement for spraying with ACF 50, an aviation corrosion prevention fluid. Not only spraying on it on chassis, wheels and suspension but dripping it along seams, especially where aluminium meets steels. Of course the ultimate prevention is to avoid salted roads, but I understand for some that's not possible. The salt spreaders are out in Vienna so the mog will stay in the garage until the spring or a week of rain washes the salt away, whichever comes first.

Thank you all so much for the responses!

So in short, if i am to use my car over the winter months it's in my best interests to wait until the rains have washed the salt away and/or cover everything i can see in ACF50 or Lanoguard or Bilt Hamber Dynax UB or UC or some other corrosion preventative.

Right, i guess that's the next project then :-)
