[quote=RichardV6]Unless the switch requires only a small adjustment I would disconnect the switch lead bullet connectors and with locknut released twist switch until contact is just made with reverse selected. This can be measured across switch leads using a multimeter in "continuity" mode. It then needs to be screwed in a small amount to ensure the reverse lights come on reliably. GoMog suggest 180° clockwise, before tightening locknut and re-attaching switch leads.
Actually, gomog (aka me most often but not here) states that one should "
Select reverse, release the locknut and rotate the switch until the light JUST comes on; then rotate the switch 180° in a clockwise (this may be counter-clockwise) direction and tighten the locknut. Can you check that for me and the Manual? Could be a typo.
Richard, I see your gearbox cover did not have the reverse switch access. The accesses vary whimsically from cover to cover. None neatly gives one access to everything that is going to need replacement, which is why the gang and I recently offered suggestions for Sd1 remote gearbox cover tweaks.
https://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/GearCoverTweak.html Bullet connectors are an often used British connector, now found all over the world. I am not a fan of British Lucars versus American ones,
but I DO like bullet connectors. But no connector is trustworthy unless soldered or fit with a professional crimper,
which is well-worth the minimal cost. Our cars are riddled with such connectors, but sadly they are often covered with "undersealing" obscuring both the all-important wire colors and the connectors themselves. In any event, see below
