Fortunately that gear change linkage is not fitted to the 4/4 - as I understand it, the 4/4 uses the Mazda parts and does not require the remote linkage fitted to the +4. IIRC, a TM member has documented the repair of the +4 linkage on his car.

Everyone has their favorites based on the cars they've owned or currently own.
I've always been a narrow body fan, they just seem a bit more vintage, which always seemed to be the point of a Morgan to me.
I've had a few +4's but 4/4's make up the majority of the 11 Morgans I've owned............😱

I always felt that the trad chassis was ok with a max power of 150hp ish, I accept that folks who do long continental tours might feel they want a bit more, but at any more than 75-80mph the wind buffeting is hard work for long trips....

More more more is just human nature, it doesn't mean it's better, it's just related to the size of your disposable budget.

I like the lightness of a 4/4, the +4 could be the best compromise car, +8- I always wanted one til I drove one, drives like a truck, Roadster- you don't need all that power to have fun in a morgan, Plus Four/Six- you might as well buy Z4/Boxster etc.......😁

They'll all leak, rattle and squeak, they'll all frustrate the hell out of you, they'll all draw a crowd when you park them and they'll all be fun.....!!!!

Go and drive everything, the right car will quickly become obvious to you.

Morgan's are expensive for what they are if compared to 'normal cars', but you certainly don't need to buy the most expensive Morgan to have fun.

Try several cars. Yours will find you and the virus will be with you. I progressed from a 4/4 for commuting to +4 for commuting and touring to an S1 roadster for touring to the likes of Sorrento. When that was t boned I bought a 3.7l Roadster that I love.

This topic was aired in a thread a few months ago.

Bear in mind that one car of a particular model may drive very differently to another of an identical model. This is based on my experiences during ownership of 3 different models and comparing with that of other owners on these particular models.

If a particular car suits your pocket and you like the colour, specification, past history and dealer etc. give it a thorough road test. If it then passes this test then bite the bullet and jump in.

Hello Pierre,

Others have said and I agree. A 4/4 is the best of the trads, I would suggest one with the 1.6L Sigma engine, plenty of scope to tweak the engine if required. They are light, nimble and fast when required. Just full of style.

Thank you for your reply
Is the 4/4 built in 2012 has the sigma 1.6 engine and also the mazda gearbox?
In a database sometime the torque is 131nm and sometime 141nm depending the milesim.
Very strange maybe because of the European norm 4 or 5?
Good evening

I blacked my wire wheels and shod them with better tyres, fitted some anti-tramp rear springs and dampers, lowered the ride height then added a Panhard rod and my Plus 4 now handles superbly.

I then turned my attention to the very tunable Duratec engine taking it to over 200hp with no loss in drivability, basically I created my own Supersport but using a custom adapted ST150 plenum type inlet manifold for more torque, rather than the individual throttle bodies Morgan used on the SS.

Finally I added some subtle backdating touches for that authentic vintage club racer look.

Hello Pierre,

Yes, the 4/4 2012 has the Sigma 1.6L and the Mazda MX5 Box. A great combination.

Actually S,

There's a thread of the way forward here and that is 'they are all different' and you will probably end up with a car you just drove because someone asked you to humor them and see what you think! and you fell in love with it!

At this point in time I'd recommend that you buy from one of the few reputable main dealers as they are stuck with devaluing stock and about to move a year too! so are really open to an offer on even their discounted prices! Plus they will have gone over the car properly and presented it for sale in a top class condition with a warranty as well that you won't have to argue over in the event of a claim!
Don't under estimate the cost of repairs, parts and the extras that might be fitted to a car you are looking at, it's not unusual when newly ordered for all the selections/options to cost ITRO £10,000 and a good used example will be great value at about half the new price!

Hello everyone

I 'd like to know if the chassis of the 4/4 is the same as the plus 4 because I saw the will based is a little different between the two cars.
Or just the wings more larger on the +4 ?
Good Sunday
