The old house insurance renewal is due 1/1/24.
The present provider was paid £165 last year & wanted £209 this year = 27% increase.
So off to the Meerkat website & surprise surprise Admiral can offer it at £191.63p (same cover etc).

Due to the auto renewal process I call up the current provider to cancel , they offer to sharpen the quote as always & guess what £191.52p.

Pure luck I am sure, it can't possibly be anything else xmasgrin

Is the present provider part of the same group as admiral ?

John, similar thing happened to me a month ago, BT or whatever name they are going by now wanted £68. per month for the phone line and broadband when I phoned up to cancel they said they could do it for £32. p/m. I told them to stick it and went with virgin/O2. ( faster broadband speed).

Good call John thumbs I tried a similar ploy when insurance on the Mini came up. Sadly the lowest from the Meercats was very similar to General Accidents quote, which had risen 22%! Just had to pay it today swear

I am assuming that those prices quoted are per month? Over here where I live house insurance is becoming a major problem many insurance companies are pulling out of the market because of increased risks of wildfires, hail storms, etc. due to climate change. If your carrier will still insure you then the premiums are increasing exponentially, ours has gone up from $2700 annually to $3900.

Beware of under insuring your property.Make sure the rebuild costs are realistic with the increase in all building materials.
Your house insurance looks very low !
Have you no high priced jewellery or watches included .
Always the better the devil you know than switching for the sake of a few pounds !

Well house and contents including specified high value items (the good ladies) in and out of the house ours is £500 which considering the overall cover is for a £1,000,000 including rebuilding etc seems reasonable ? or are they having a laugh...

Obviously it's a bit of a postcode vs neighbours claims lottery, but just about to renew at under £200 for £1m buildings & £75k contents, so £500 sounds steep (unless you're situated on a receding coastal cliff)
