Hi, can anyone recommend a Morgan specialist or other garage which is able to refurbish the starter motor and solenoid on my 1984 Morgan 4/4 in Cornwall.

Perranwell are near Truro, but you've got the Ford CVH motor in, so the starter/solenoid are pretty standard fare and most motor factors could get you a replacement one. If you do want to refurb, google 'starter motor repair Cornwall' and it will bring up several options.

It's actually got a Fiat 2L engine. Would the starter/solenoid be the same as a Ford CVH?

Ah, no, it will be different, but still fairly easy to get hold of a recon.

I believe the 2 litre Lampredi engine you have was used in a variety of Fiat and Lancia cars of the era. It might be just as cheap to buy a new or exchange starter as plenty seem economically available online. Check here for full listing of cars that used the 2 litre variant of this engine.

Just did a search, and you've asked the question on here before - the Fiat 131 was suggested as a likely source.
However if you whip it off and take it to a 'rewinders' they should sort it. The solenoid is attached to the body of the starter..

Just to add that if it is the 2 litre fiat engine (and what a brilliant engine that is) then you have a plus 4 not a 4/4

Imagine the supercharged 2.1 litre version of that engine with half the number of cylinders but heading towards twice the horsepower of the Morgan V8, in the early 80's
