Just about to refit my rear wings along with replacement wing piping. When I took them off there was no evidence of any sealant between any of the surfaces.

I'm wondering if this is normal or if I should take the opportunity to apply a thin coat of sealant and if so what would be best.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks, Derek

Isn't the piping a seal in itself Derek? I can imagine a few dabs of adhesive sealant may help in holding the piping in place though whilst bolting up wing.

No sealant on my wings, just the piping... It has been a long time since I had a wing off though as best I can remember I just entered the screws loosely allowing jiggle room to save struggling to get all the screws back in their original holes, then tightend them till there was room enough to slide the piping back in place.

I just brushed a good layer of Waxoyl on both the wood inner arch and the corresponding part of the wind and put the screws in.

Any sealant is better than nothing

However, see if you can find some rubber d section piping rather than the more normal pvc piping.

As its softer and more pliable than the pvc type and seals better

Does DumDum still exist ? I remember buying it in the '70's, sort of non-setting putty in pale grey strips

This variant would probably work well https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371131714218 especially as it is specified for (another) "Mog"

Gun Gum is another product I haven't heard of for a while. We would use it to patch up car and motorbike exhausts. Amazed it's still available.
