So, how have the first 9 months and 4,000 miles fared? To be honest, it's been akin to being part of a 1960s Spaghetti Western – the car has experienced highs, lows, and perhaps even some unpredictable moments. Over the nine months of ownership, the car spent around 2 months either back at the Morgan Factory or with my local dealer. Despite this, it embarked on a fantastic touring holiday of the Picos de Europa, Andorra, and the Pyrenees, as well as numerous UK breaks and runs, garnering admiration and photographs wherever it went and has given much pleasure to me its current custodian.

Let's delve into the good, the bad, and the ugly of my ownership.

Starting with the good, the MY23 dynamic additions to the Plus Six have enhanced the driving experience compared to my first Plus Six. The new brakes are both progressive and powerful, effectively bringing the car to a halt without any noticeable fade with limited pedal travel. The new suspension dampers and bushes provide an excellent ride with minimal body roll and exceptional grip on sharp corners. The reconfigured automatic gearbox proved to be a delight, intelligently adapting to the car’s circumstances. These enhancements made driving on the Col De Touralet, the highest road in the central Pyrenees and part of the Tour De France route, an absolute joy. I have yet to test the Electronic Stability Control program or the airbags, and have no plans to do so in the foreseeable future!

The new interior has also been a positive aspect. The comfort-plus seats and steering wheel are comfortable even after extended drives, although the aesthetics of the steering wheel leave something to be desired. The new liquid display screen is now visible with polarizing sunglasses although the LED Warning Bar is obscured by the top of the steering wheel, and the Sennheiser audio system is brilliant, providing excellent music quality at 60 mph even with the roof down.

However, the new interior and dashboard present missed opportunities. The placement of switches for the heated seats deep in the footwell is inconvenient, could these not have been placed on the dashboard or centre console and the clock's different wattage bulbs to the other instruments make it too dim at night to see. Additionally, the instrument dimmer switch doesn't adjust the panel illumination linearly, they are either bright or not very bright with nothing in between.

Over 4,000 miles, the car has returned an impressive 39 mpg across various driving scenarios. For a 3 ltr 335 bhp car, this is commendable. However, the small 8.35 UK gallon fuel tank capacity raises some range anxiety. Although the car should have a range of 325 miles, the low fuel warning light comes on between 220 and 240 miles, suggesting not all tank capacity is usable.

Unfortunately, my experience with the Morgan Plus Six has been marred by a combination of poor build and parts quality. In my nine months of ownership, the car had to be returned to the Morgan factory for rectifications to the doors and hood, both of which did not fit correctly, allowing water and a gale into the car. My dealer, as always very helpful, had to both repair and re-gas the air conditioning multiple times, fix a failed radiator, replace a broken front cowl, and respray part of the nearside rear wing due to incorrectly fitted beading damaging the paintwork.

As is the case with all items in Morgan's option list—many of which were once standard features on earlier Morgans—several are remarkably expensive. However, paying £295 for a Model Logo on the dashboard, which turned out to resemble a 50p eBay sticker, seems, to me, to push the boundaries of ethical pricing to the limit

In summary, the CX platform Morgan is undoubtedly a great car, as expected at its £100K price point. However, it is severely let down by poor build quality and a seeming lack of attention to detail in certain aspects of its specification, build and quality assurance before the car leaves the factory.

This seems to be very positive . Your dealer has fixed the small problems before the waranty expire and If the radiator fails again it will be changed .

We have the older pre facelift Plus Six. It had covered less than 600 miles when we purchased it from the dealer some 18 months ago. In those 18 months, it is now on its 3rd radiator. The front wings clear coat started peeling off and was resprayed. The windscreen A posts started to corrode and were resprayed. The bonnet was replaced due to a large miss match in the shutline. The complete mechanical wiper system has been replaced twice, as it started to self distruct.. Wiper blade arms replaced as they started to fall off. The automatic light sensor has been replaced. The aircon has been regassed so many times that I have lost count of the recharges.. The brake system has been bled several times. Both the rear brake calipers have been replaced, one rear disk has been replaced. One front wheel rim has been replaced, as it had rubbed itself away on the suspension arm gusset. The electronics module that interacts between handbrake and gearbox has been replaced due to fault codes. All main earths remade due to weird electrical gremlins.
All repairs undertaken under warranty by dealer or factory. In addition, as per all the earlier CX cars the brake master cylinder has been replaced. In 18 months of ownership it has been off the road, at the dealer, or at the factory for around 7 months.

We kept the faith with the car... just, it came very close on several occasions to be returned to the dealer.

We have upgraded the suspension to the SSL setup which transforms the earlier Plus Six suspension and I have replaced the rubber gaskets that fit between headlamp and its wing bowl as they were perished.

The car is a joy to drive when its working, the mpg is good, autobox is smooth and works well.. We find the seats comfortable and I love the wood dash.. it now has a motor-lita steering wheel. We hope it is now reliable enough to tour in Europe, last years attempt ended with limping home due to a leaking radiator and brake binding.

It is a hand assembled car, but it is the basic QC and materials used that has let the car down, most of the cars faults should never have left the factory..

Anyway onward and upward... we hope all is now well.. we have renamed the car "lucky" as it was lucky it was not rejected.

Lastly, I do agree in the review ref the fuel tank capacity, the useable fuel amount is not that great if touring..

Both reviews demonstrate a loyalty to the brand that have kept the lights on in Pickersleigh Rd for the last 115 years.......

I can't help being reminded of the curate's egg when reading of the owners experiences.............!

It's been said many times, but QC has always been pretty hit and miss at best, easier to stomach on a vehicle that costs £30k, less easy on something with a £100k price tag.....

Well I don’t post here often but I do feel compelled to reply. Probably repeating myself and not wishing to come across as to smug, but I am obviously the real lucky Plus 6 morgan owner as mine just keeps getting better!
19 plate ex factory car, hard top on for winter .
Running on winter tyres currently .
Heading towards 30,000 miles.
Uses no oil or water .
Never had radiator fail.
Aircon never re gassed and the aircon is on permanently, never switched it off.
Gets thrashed to death, average mpg on dash last week 23 mpg.
Always in Sport mode, and sport plus as soon as I’m out of town (addicted to power and pops and bangs).
Used in all weathers and is currently filthier than the farm truck but in my eyes looks cool.
Totally comfortable with no traction control, cos it’s driven all the time, so you get used to it and learn to feel for grip.
It gets out of shape over big bumps and humps, at speed in wet or dry, but it teaches you when to back off.
It is looked after by the factory, they know my first name, not because I’m always there , but they seem to have an interest in my abused higher milage 6.
Only things ever done was the Overseer light came on once after Castle Coombe track day , fixed next day in an hour and windscreen wiper flew off on M5 in rain, rang factory, fitted and gone in half hour, no charge.
And no brake issues, 100 mph plus, full hard breaking stops you in seconds.
And mine doesn’t leak, and doors not draughty, as they up graded door seals for free.

So is it a case of the more you use , the less you lose?

And one last thing, the member who last sent me a private message many month ago about my last post claiming I worked for the Italians!! I can assure you all , I definitely don’t 😁

Hello Jono, I think it is superb that you are getting to use what is a great car.. Our cars problems were compounded by the wait time needed for the dealer/factory to address each of the failures, as the critical faults did not occur at the same time and the dealer/factory time was busy, plus some faults took time to identify and fix. We used the car routinely until we reached a critical "vehicle off road" failure point, at that time we had to wait until it was fixed. Its as simple as that.
I have no issues with the car when its working, its a joy and I hope it will now be as reliable as yours.. I do have to say though the SSL suspension upgrade feels way better than the standard set up..

Moving to the Plus Four.....
Had mine in July and now on 5500 miles, replacing the 2002 Plus 8.
A step up definitely. Only thing missing is the V8 sound. Had an oil change done whilst in for the 1000 mile check.
Due to the coolant/rad issues I have been keeping a close watch but no coolant issues.
Two problems sorted by the dealer.
Handbrake not brilliant but better now.
PCB for the gauges failed. The gauges went dead but the small screen was on so had speed and warnings. No speedo, rev counter, temp or fuel gauges. New PCB fitted and ok so far. One bonus is that the clock now lights up! It didn’t before. It’s not very bright but some light.
One job left, to reduce draughts from the door/side screen rear. I have seals left over from doing similar on the Plus 8.
Driven mostly in auto mode but Sport/S+and paddles being used as well.
On a trip to Scotland I got 50+mpg on several days, using the 250miles rule for filling up. Apparently there is 70 miles left when the low fuel light comes on but not tested.
I miss a dipstick though. Easier than the built in screen/software based method.
Not SORN as I’ll use the car when possible as with previous Morgans.
I like the car. Comfort, drivability, performance are great.

I'll continue with another PlusFour
12 months old and 15.000 Km

previous problems were
the broken bracket of the luggage carrier
the inner door handle of the passenger door
failure of the middel module

All faults were fixed quickly and easily by my dealer. In the case of the middle module, even with the help of Massimo.

I think the car is just great, in fact I love it. It's a joy to drive and I've never had so much fun getting around.
It fulfills exactly what I expect from a 100.00 € vehicle from a small series manufacturer, even if a few here see it differently

Never heard of Curate’s egg Julian, but asked my wife for it at breakfast. She replied, you are an example of Curate’s egg!! I still don’t get it.
She gave me some toast.

That made me chuckle, but doesn't surprise me. I've said before, there are some forum members who seen desperate for the demise of MMC smile smile
