My 1" RAM mount has cracked, probably due to me over tightening the clamp to try and keep my Tom Tom Rider sat nav from moving around. I also use my iPhone 12 for sat nav occasionally in the M3W with a RAM X-Grip, this is lighter and doesn't bounce around as much as the Tom Tom Rider. The other advantage with the iPhone is that if there is a group of you, you can all use a common sat nav system such as Google maps to make things easier with planning routes.

I enquired with the original supplier of my RAM mount about getting a new 1" ball, no problem with that but he called me and asked if I was aware of the problems of using an iPhone mounted on "a motorcycle", specifically the deterioration to the camera optics from vibrations? I wasn't but have read a few bits about it and it does seem to be a problem for some.

Has anyone had these problems with mounting their iPhone to the vibrating M3W? It could be that bikes with high revving engines are the main problem, rather than the slower revving V-Twin? He recommends using a Quadlock vibration damper but I am not sure I want the Quadlock system on the back of my phone all the time for the few occasions I use it. Any info about iPhone camera problems and vibrations appreciated to judge if it really is a problem with the M3W.

Hello Ian, Happy New Year to you..

I have and use a RAM Mount in conjunction with the Quadlock Vibration Mount on my M3W... I also have an apple iPhone and have heard reports about problems with the cameras being affected by vibration...

I can't say that I have suffered or experienced any problems, but I do use the vibration mount, so maybe the mount is doing what is meant to do...

I was hoping to add a couple of photos but I am not suceeding at the moment...

Hello Ian,

I have just sent you an email with a few photos of the Quadlock Vibration mount in my M3W.... I also have the Quadlock phone case for my iPhone, the case is quite thin and clips to the mount very easily...

Happy New Year Paul. One of your images here "Slapper Hackett" 😁. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people who have had problems with using their iPhones mounted in the M3W, so maybe our sort of vibrations are not the iPhone camera killer type or are you all using Quadlocks? The Quadlock vibration mount does look good but for my limited use maybe the X-Grip, with it's rubber mounting pads, is enough?
