I don't think it is a fake, but it isn't very original. It is a 4-4 (not a 4/4) and with the Coventry Climax engine it dates from before June 1939 (from then on the Standard Special engine was used).

And you are right, Peter. The +4s were not yet around in 1948. Most non-Morgan dealers have no idea what 4/4 or +4 means.

There is a school of thought that there was only ever one car with 4-4 designation and all other 4 wheelers after that were 4/4. Allegedly the reason the 4-4 designation continued to be used was due to motoring press at the time and in later marque history books whether sufficient in depth research had been done...

However, whether we will ever find the truth of that with so many years having passed is doubtful.

I will follow the politicians on this on... and come down firmly on the fence - either designation will do me for pre-war cars

Yep; I've always thought of that model whenever the discussions about the Sport's lack of spare wheel pop up; here have one with two, a six-wheeler, pleased?

Some wag years ago said the twin spare wheel four wheeler was making up for all the three wheelers sold with no spare.
(Front wheels were different to the back wheel).
