As a future prospective owner in the US I find this thread quite helpful. I have a question of my own ... is there enough space behind the seats to store the side-screens given that my wife are not tall (5'7" or 171.5cm).

I’m not sure there is room as there’s hardly room for the bag itself

yes, you can store the side screens behind the seats. they stick up slightly above the rear folded roof. don't impede rear visibility

. The jack, tyre goo, tools would benefit from storage space, currently behind the passenger seat in their leather bags. . Have you investigated space under the spare wheel ? On the Trads there is also space in the surrounding void to fit jack & tools

As a future prospective owner in the US I find this thread quite helpful. I have a question of my own ... is there enough space behind the seats to store the side-screens given that my wife are not tall (5'7" or 171.5cm). I find myself in the unusual position of being able to answer this …. Just spent 2weeks with the side screens on and off and there is room, even with the seats right back to pop the screens in bag behind the seats. I would caution though… that’s your lot, no room for anything else. Note I’m 6ft3 and my brother is 6ft and we did most of the driving. We ended up leaving the side screens at home if we went for less than a day. I would also say even though the side screens behind the seat don’t impede visibility they don’t look that great … but my vote is side screen case is the way to go and I’m adding it to list of options.

I have the side screens bag but if you stop somewhere it so large that you will have to put the hood back up to avoid stolling. Or fixe them again on the door.

I took the spare off my Plus Four to check the usable space. There is a plastic panel beneath the wheel that seals off the space underneath. It’s held in place by ( if I remember correctly) by about4(?) bolts. The panel is a tight fit under the body panel edges so not the easiest to remove. I was refitting the Cobra(high) brake light at the same time so needed access to the wiring connector. I managed it by carefully moving and bending the plastic panel enough without removing it. I don’t know how much actual space is under there. There is a spec option to have a lockable storage in the rear of the shelf area. Not very big though. Also, there are stuck on panels in the chassis vertical panel below the rear shelf. The carpet is easily moved. Anyone know what’s behind them? I suspect the sound system amp might be in one side. If the other is empty then that might make a mod an option, and fairly easy to access with the seat forward. Photos of the chassis from the factory show these panels.

Folks - What o you guys think of the extra vision from the Cibie Spot lamps - I am considering them as the back roads here in Ireland are notorious for rocks and branches which extra light to see would be great - However I think I note from some posts that the advantage isnt great - I'd welcome some views
Cheers!!

ive got the smaller cibies ... love them. the main headlamps cast a strange light beam & I find them ok. I don't think ive ever tried main beam with the cibie covers on to test the full beam range of the headlights, but I'm presuming the floodlight effect with covers off comes from the cibies. they really do illuminate the road, it looks like man united have just switched their floodlights on.
