I'm sure we must have some GRRC members on Talk Morgan who might be able to explain what its all about and whether it's good value for money?
I've looked it up and it seems very confusing. Could somebody walk me through the advantages please?
Do you have to be a member to get tickets to the Members meeting in April or is it open to the public as well? If you are a member are the tickets to the members meeting then free tickets or just discounted?
What is the fellowship and how does it compare to a full member ?
In your opinion is £85 per year fellowship good value?
Thank you in advance

Thank you in advance To answer your questions. Goodwood (GRRC) You have to be a Member or a Fellow to buy tickets for the Members Meeting. The event is not open to the general public. There is no free entry to the Members Meeting, even with full GRRC membership. You need to join the Fellowship first, if you want to be considered for full membership. The current waiting list to become a full member is 3 to 4 years. Is it good value? Not for me to say. We love attending the Members Meeting. It is very relaxed, a great atmosphere, not crowded and has two days of amazing classic racing. There are very few access restrictions and you can wander around the paddocks unrestricted. Gorgeous cars competing and some equally wonderful cars in the car parks. If you phone the Goodwood Office, they are friendly, extremely helpful and will guide you on the Fellowship. So maybe worth a call? 01243 755055 Bud 4/4 - Stanley

I've been to the MM a couple of times because I was able to get tickets via a member.
All Goodwood events are certainly worth going to!!! The MM is definitely less crowded than the Revival or the FoS.
I wish I'd become a member years ago before it all go so big, I'm probably of the Groucho Marx mindset nowadays, 'I don't care to be a member of any club that would have someone like me as a member"🙃

Ok, thanks guys. So you have to pay to join as a fellow member and then buy tickets to the meeting. That was the bit i wasn't sure of. The members meeting sounded (on the surface of it) that it was a free event as a treat for members What it actually means is it's an exclusive event with tickets open to member only. For me to join just to attend this event makes it a pricey day our lol On the other hand, if there is a 3 year waiting list to become a full member then it is still very popular with wealthy people Thank you all again for the clarification.

For us oldies who have always been a bit frugal we often view the cost of things as a bit outrageous. As someone pointed out to me the other day the younger generation thinks nothing of spending €1,500 on the latest phone to replace the one they bought last year or the year before.
I was looking at this the other day while I was agonising about spending €1,100 on a new laptop that I want but can't really justify. My cars and computers I tend to replace between 8 and 10 years and phones about every 5 years. Then I am paying nearly €3K in fees and membership of the local yacht club for a boat that I have used about 6 times in the last 3 years.
Taken in perspective £85 does not seem a lot of money and I am sure you will enjoy the benefits.

I joined the Fellowship and I haven't seen a single Hobbit yet ... just rubbish! 🙂
Seriously though ... I joined because the attatched discount pretty much paid for the membership with all the Revival tickets/camping/grandstands I bought for Me and Mrs Image so it was effectively free ... has various perks like early entry etc and they do events as well ... not personally an 'events' sort of bloke and geography makes them impractical for me ... but if you're even partly socialised and live further from the equator then they may be of use.

A ps on this subject. There are camp sites; however the last time Susie and I camped, was Le Mans - 2010, so it’s a local pub for us. You need to book early, but it’s all part of the fun and the camaraderie. Last year, the pub car park included a range of cars including a Ferrari 812, a Camaro, a Cayman GT4, a Jaguar XK120 alongside our 4/4. On hearing we had driven from Devon, the Ferrari owner insisted on buying us a drink at the bar. (“In that! You must be mad”) Bud 4/4 - Stanley

Budster, thats exactly what an Italian chap said to me, when I was filling up at a petrol station near Lake Garda when he heard where I was from.
He did laugh .

Five weeks of Morgan touring.
