I'm replacing the front disc calipers on my 4/4 (1969). I thought they were type 14 Girling calipers. Were there two types of slightly differing type 14s? Does anyone recognise the original caliper ? thanks

Some Elan's say 66 to 70 ish had those, just out of the Girling parts book. I think they are a version of a type 14. I'm sure I've got one in my stash. There are various types of Type 14 calipers unfortunately which is why I always send mine off for reconditioning so I get the same ones back!
What you can do is make up a bracket between the mounting ears and an s shaped length of copper tubing running between the caliper and the bracket to meet up with your flexi hose.

Treat yourself, get a pair of new aeroquip hoses. But do make sure you get the correct ones.

There is an issue with fitting longer hoses but can't remember what it is exactly.
Think it is to do with clearance between the caliper and the wheel.
Before you get the new hoses just check that or....assemble the hoses yourself with -3 hoses and Aeroquip/Euroquip self assembly fittings

Thanks everyone, I've got a set of Aeroquip hoses from Uncle Melvyn so I'll see if they are long enough tomorrow morning...
