Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for hotels etc in the Loire - planning a trip to tour the major chateaux. First time taking my plus four abroad since I bought her last March. Thanks

Look at the tour companies that run trips to the area that will give you a good start. Ihaven't been for years so can't help you more.

We’ve stayed in Azay-Le-Rideau.
Beautiful local chateau, some decent hotels and restaurants in this small town.

Also, nearby the Musée Maurice Dufresne, if you get a wet day.

Ian, if you are an MSCC member I suggest to ask some of the owners in your local Centre, there are usually several with significant touring experience

John V6's suggestion is good too, as they often have a suggested route & list hotels they use, eg Scenic & Classic, you may even wish to book via an official tour Co to cut out the hassle

We stayed here - https://www.tortiniere.com/fr/ in Sep-23. Good location and good food but, in our view, overpriced.
Buster gives good advice above.

+1 for Azay-Le-Rideau, have a look at the Grand Monarque, lovely quirky rooms and they can sort out safe parking.
