Yes, that was him.

Also Syd the manager and many others, some of which have already been mentioned.

We knew him when he stared at Radio 210 in Reading where he presented with Mike Read in the Read and Wright show. My sister in law worked with him there and we met him at a local show.

Over the years his show was a “must listen to”.
His style, music choices and comedy characters were great.
I remember having to pull over to laugh at his Elvis has left the building character.

As a youngster, if I’d been out in the work van delivering, I’d deliberately go slow when when he was on just to keep listening, always a warm, happy show.

I remember Steve joining Radio 1. His style was a breath of fresh air. Nobody before or since has come close to his style or content. It's a sad day.

Steve was often our companion travelling home from the South West. Always entertaining, such a great talent.

Always had his show on when I was 'fettling' something, including last Sunday's Love Songs

I had just put the radio on at 5pm yesterday as Sarah Cox announced the sad news, Steve was such a great, innovative radio presenter

Can’t figure out why they keep working - what’s the point being the richest DJ in the graveyard? Tony Blackburn OBE is still going at it at 81 despite having a recent serious health scare along with Johnny Walker - I do enjoy listening to them though

Wonder who will take over Pick of The Pops?

It's not a job it's a way of life. Steve loved all music he would spend most weekends in the USA just to listen to the different music. To Steve music was like a Morgan is to most on here, we don't give them up because we are old.
