The 917 should not look that good after 55 years.

When did Porsche first employ blind stylists?

The wind styled that one ... did a better job than the design department 🙂

Is there such a thing as design stereotypes?

Top one's Italian designed .... might have been 50 bhp down on the top runners, but looks every inch the sexy race-engine!

The bottom one German designed ... wonderfully efficient but looks like it was made to power a suburban rail-car!

😁

You're right enough there K.

Ironic really as Scooby succeeded with the mud plugging cars albeit not with that PU..

Compared to the engine bay of my former 60`s Jag S type, I ever thought the engine of my air cooled 911 looked like the innards of a washing machine.... However once on the road, the 911`s engine performance was far more important to me than an attractive engine to look at... Each to their own.. (-:

I wonder if I could squeeze one of these into the Plus 4 thereby creating the first Plus 12 laugh

Having cut my teeth on 4 pots, my first drive in a 12 banger circa 40 years ago was a tad disappointing in terms of exhaust note, gone was the sound and vibration I was well used acquainted with, to be replaced with something on which the power delivery sounded and felt more akin to that of an electric motor..... And yes I did have experience of electrically propelled vehicles back then.. (-:

Oh, the car in question was a V12E tin top, and while the engine was smooth, the bodywork rattled a bit.... But then it did look beautiful, which made up for any foibles it might be thought to have.... Now where have I read that before... (-:
