Only comment is that bullet connectors are not standard.

Do you have spotlights? And something else, presumably.

The bullet connectors with the blue and black wires are for the heated screen. They go up between the ash frame and the dash, a small slot had been cut for them.

Or have you spotted some others.

No spotlights.

If the relays aren't standard they must be left over from the previous owner and then removed. Maybe another conversation with the dealer.

Interesting 🧐

With Morgan you can never be absolutely certain about anything. Those relays are in a place which suggests extras added by a previous owner, but might even have been a factory addition for additional items. The aluminium shields are not something I've ever seen, which suggests a previous owner.

Sorry if off topic but on the GDI cars can you swap the rev counter and Speedo around so you can read it when driving. I have seen some cars with it the other way.

Absolutely you can, Mine is a Duratec but they are the wrong way around and you cant see the bl***dy thing as it sits under my hand but I'm so rural I don't bother looking as you couldn't find a copper if you tried!

I had one of those shields on my 2014 Brooklands Roadster.

I think you would just have to extend the cable that goes between the Rev counter (now far left) and the fuel gauge which is the next in the sequence even if you switched the Fuel and Temp gauges.

Regards

These relays are not shown on wiring schematics but I can confirm that bullet connectors are on Morgan schematics here and elsewhere. You can also see below on 3.7 Roadster of similar era with dash removed, similarly located relays and the green/orange feed to heated screen via bullet connectors to blue and black wires, further confirming all these are factory fitment. The white wire loops on relays to give common feed to coil and contact suggest they are ground triggered FWIW.

Update

After cleaning all connectors and earth points the problem persists.

So tomorrow the dealer is asking the factory for availability, and cost, of a new Speedometer.

We think it's just a straight replacement that I can fit myself before we head to Spain 1st June, but it means the mileage will be incorrect.

Just hope that when fitted it fixes the problem.

Will update again hopefully a few days into our tour.

Fingers Crossed

Forgive me but I thought the initial problem was intermittent failure of 4 items : speedo, revcounter, fuel gauge and coolant temp. so I am wondering why a new speedo is going to fix all 4 issues. Surely it is down to something that is affecting the electrical supply to the gauges, rather than the gauges themselves?
