Hi Folks, hopefully someone can help. My winter lay up task this year was to replace the fuel pump and lines on my 2016 Plus 4 GDI. I had a slight leak towards the end of last year and when I checked around the tank the pipe from the fuel pump appeared to be leaking, unfortunately when I touched it the output spout on the pump broke off. Hence the new pump.

Now to the problem. I ordered the pump (which I now find out is a Ford C max pump) and in the meantime I cut the pipes from the pump as it was easier to remove it and mistakenly also the pipe to the carbon cannister. With all pipes removed I now start to replace the pump and pipes. Unfortunately, with the passing of time, age and not labelling them I cannot recall which of the two pipes at the rear of the car to the front is for the pump output and which is for the carbon canister.

Photo is attached. I know I’m a dope and have already had it in the ear so any help is gratefully received.

Steve

Can't you just trace the pipes to see which is which?

Yes it is one of the MMC parts books made for the dealers. It is used as a guide for parts and assembly. The first one came out in 1999 and the last is I find 2016. There are
also diagrams for the Three Wheelers, the Aeros and the Aero Plus 8s all in pdf format.

Of interest in this one is, once blown up, is the direction of the fuel flow in the subject pipes. One (the feed), comes from the fuel pump and the other, the return, flows back
into the tank. You will also notice the feed, at the junction, are cut a bit shorter for fitting space and recognition. I see no major differece between the 4/4s, PLus 4s and
Roadsters in 2014. The 2016 book is less clear.

If you want yours complete for future convenience, merely contact me off-group and indicate the year you wish covered.

Thanks Richard, looks like the roadster has the same pipe runs as mine. I reckon I will have to find the fuel input pipe in the engine bay and blow an airline down it to confirm which of the two it is.

Best if you refer to correct diagram for your 2016 +4 Steve as there were changes in 2014.

It should be easy to trace.

Thanks Richard

Identified feed to HP fuel pump and put an airline on the pipe and detected flow at rear. All now connected and up and running, lesson learnt for next time photo and label
