I've just added the tap socket set to my list of 'must have' tools......
I use tap and dies sporadically, but with the Morgan, MGB and Harley they've certainly saved me from big expenses!

The solution for taps in inaccessible places is to use nuts and make a square hole with a jeweler's file or force a nut, it is also possible to insert a nut, drill and glue on the part smooth the tap with loctite 638 and use a ratchet eye wrench.

Well, my idle curiosity has brought out some really useful answers .... there's just so much information out there we can get bogged down and miss things in plain sight .... will be adding to my toolkit on the strength of this thread 🙂
Many thanks for the replies.

An air conditioning wrench has 4 different size holes. I've never tried to fit them to a tap, but I bet it would work.
