One swallow does not a summer make
Thankfully there were hundreds of swallows this morning at my home from home, summer must be coming! Beautiful to watch them fly and close enough to touch. Sorry it’s only phone quality…. ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2024/05/26/IMG_0766.jpeg) . ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2024/05/26/IMG_0780.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2024/05/26/IMG_0787.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2024/05/26/IMG_0750.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2024/05/26/IMG_0792.jpeg)

I’m afraid I don’t know, locally they’re called “ horny golichs”, they curl their tail up like a scorpion if you bother them, this one is about an inch long .

That sounds like a Devil's Coach Horse. I saw a Black Oil Beetle a few years back in a village on Cranborne Chase in Dorset a few years back, never before or since. Astonishing what goes on beneath our feet.

It’s been slow progress with the Eclat but we reached a milestone yesterday, the body and soul are temporarily apart, how temporary is anyone’s guess! Also, another wonderful coloured creature, plenty around, all photographed it just the phone by the way. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/08/25/IMG_1243.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/08/25/IMG_1252.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/08/25/IMG_1267.jpeg)

That'll make both bits easier to work on ... chassis looks sound enough ... never realised they had inboard brakes ... bit of a clash of technologies, fancy inboards .. and they're drums! 🙂
Not sure that wing's going to work .... bit wide, and shouldn't it be at the back? 😆
Been a poor year for butterflies here ... hardly any earlier, what with the wet spring ... just a few late-comers out and about now.

Interesting images as ever, thanks for posting Ewan.
The Eclat.... been there done that with an Elite... not my favourite Lotus for sure. chassis rot on the rear crossmember and I guess the LT van inspired engine did not quite inspire me from the outset, the way the Ford Twink had done in my Elan. That the block was slightly porous also did not endear me, beads of antifreeze coloured sweat could be seen forming on the outside of the block...Trying to source a wheelbox for the well worn one driving the wiper was interesting but got there in the end...
K, I think the inboard drums might have made for a more efficient handbrake given the handbrake on discs in Elans were a bit ..err... ineffective, and being inboard reduced un-sprung weight, but cost effectiveness may have been the ultimate aim...?
I thought that the Elite experience was interesting for a Lotus of it`s time.. Variety is the spice of life, is it not...(-:
Poor year for both bees and butterflies here too.... a bit concerning..?

Great action pics Ewan , is that a Doddie Weir Charity (mnd) gazebo and Landie there. He was a fantastic sportsman and human being.

Ewan, isn't it amazing that his foundation is much like folk like you, K and our Son planting trees for the future generations, firstly in finding a cure and secondly improving the environment for all, these things should be flagged. Not purple from this distance but there was a wedding here Saturday for a local Equestrian (at Brentor Kirk) so naturally a friend trotted up on her horse to take part.. Only approachable on foot or horse this one. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/08/26/br.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/08/26/bre.jpg) I know of three churches on Dartmoor that have a Service once a month this being one.
