As a previous owner of a 2012 MTW, I have always been accustomed to the squealing noises generated by the 3-wheel drive belt.
However, I was surprised to find that this transmission still sounds just as good on the new MS3.
I took my MS3 to a friend this weekend, he loved the test, however he was shocked at the noise level of the transmission.
Is this bird singing noise normal? confused2
Can it be reduced? confused2

The bevel box on the Super 3 whilst similar to that of the M3W is from a different supplier.

I have several problems with the MS3, I'm going to drop it off at Morgan Brussel, I'll ask them to check why it's making so much noise... sos
It seems that a chain transmission makes less noise, but I don't know if it is installed systematically or not...?

I dropped off my MS3 last week at Morgan Brussel.
They confirm to me that the belt transmission will always make a lot of noise, that they have a special grease which helps reduce the noise, but that it is temporary... listening
that's why they recommend chain transmission, it's a free option when you order a new MS3, it pays when you have a belt MS3 that you want to convert to a chain... confused2
But they confirm that the difference is enormous! laugh2
However you have to pay...again.... scared

The Morgan Belgium mechanic uses this grease for the belt. This eliminates 95% of noise, but it must be added approximately every 600/700km :

Never thought about lubricating the drive belt - is it silicone, PTFE, lithium grease or something else?

Back in the 70's I was assigned to an exploration vessel that used multiple Detroit Diesels driving Chicargo Pneumatic PB44 compressors to generate air at 2000 PSI. The compressors were driven by multi V belts. At that time part of the routine maintenance was to spray the belts with belt dressing that improved both the grip, reduced the noise and extended the belts life. Belt dressing spray is still easily available and is suitable for both V belts and Cogged belts. It will quieten the belt drive down.. However, pls note, we used the belt dressing in a semi clean environment within the vessel. Not sure how the dressing would impact the belt wear if it was also subjected to road grime. If you Google Belt Dressing sprays there are multiple choices. The posted photo is a belt dressing spray... If you want to go this route check each products suitability.
