Hi All

Yet another issue with my CX. The paint on the near side windscreen pillar is blistering badly at the base of the pillar in an area of about 2cm by 1cm. Looks like it won't be long until the paint actually flakes off. Has anyone else had this issue and if so was the dealer / factory accommodating? My car is always garaged and only has 3k miles on it. Couldn't even drive it for the first 9 months due to the brake recall issue, that was after the overseer problems, but before the dodgy wheel spinners, faulty wire rim that leaked air, leaking (replaced rad), squeaking clutch etc. Seems every time I go and use the car I find another problem.

Anyway, ranting aside, anyone else had this issue and if so how was it resolved (aside from re-painting of course smile )

Thanks in advance for any info
Neil

Neil, sorry to read this but I'm pretty sure there is a thread on here somewhere covering just this problem and from memory provided the car is in the warranty period (+ 9months for the brake radiator debacle) MMC sorted it out.
So good luck and happier motoring in your dynamic new model

oh yeah, had the A pillars repainted too. (now blistering again) along with the clutch master cylinder. er...radiator, brakes, window seal, seals around wiper arms, daft pack fitted, sheared bonnet catch, horn fell off, one spot lamp replaced due to paint flake, other one needs doing, leaking door, leaking roof, door mirror fell apart (swapped with Librands) dimmer switch replaced, rust stain from front indicator, rust stain from internal door catch. next is .. brakes occasionally make a clunk (alloys) chassis now creaks like hell on bad surfaces, wheel centre caps are blistering, quite a few screws are rusting, think that's it! .... still love it tho', just the little niggles drive you mad. not sure what planet Morgan are on tho' with all their latest advertising campaigns & instagram posts. ... sort your cars out!! They obviously didn't expect someone to actually drive their cars (21k in 2 ¼ yrs) & drive it hard at times ..thought it was a sports car? ...it is :-)
A pillars done under warranty no questions, in fact everything above was just sorted by the dealer which made a huge difference.

Hahahahah! That's really made me laugh laugh I feel slightly inadequate with my list of complaints now smile

Like you, still love the car just not the ownership experience. So far my "local" dealer has been excellent so hoping it will be resolved simply - ideally in the autumn so I can stay on the road for now. Thanks for replying - brightened my morning!

I think you'll find it was 3 months not 9 months. Hope I'm wrong.

These niggles are carry overs from the Trads. The flaking A pillars, and rusting fasteners go way back, and have never been completely resolved. As a result, Trad A posts have a variety of finishes, from base battleship grey to semi mottled "Hammerite". The other big niggle is paint chafing and although CXs don't seem to have the same numbers, some still do.

Morgan never mastered getting paint/anodising to stick to A pillars.😁
CRL's list is just 'normal for Morgan' I think.
Frustrating on a £30k new Morgan, inexcusable on one costing £80k+.

A couple of polished Ally pillars would have been nice, and no more warranty issue's for Morgan. That would be too simple......

Em, ali will corrode, less so if anodised so stainless would be better....at a significant cost.
Quality is best designed in from the start. It may be cheaper to deal with this pillar blistering under warranty or when out of warranty adopt the " it's a Morgan, we build it and owners develope it! " What effect this has on image of Morgan is another factor too.
I do wonder how MMC watch what happens to cars and the issues they get. There appears to be some level of that going on as cars do mileages to show up problems. Whether a small number of occurences is deemed worthy of resolving is another matter.
Comparing my 1993 4/4 versus the 2002 Plus8 showed clear improvements in quality for trad evolution. The CX is way ahead but, like any make of car, will undergo further development.
