My steering wheel is deteriorating quite badly. You can clearly see the problem from the picture. Has anyone else experienced this?

Looks like it's either poor quality or manufactured from leather waste

Maybe even faux (artificial) leather!

Leather was i think an option in early cars. If plastic it could be something like deet or suntan cream affecting it

Looks more like plastic or vinyl. I replaced mine by a (real!) leather trimmed MotoLita steering wheel, but before the swap my steering wheel was okay! My PlusFour is one of the last MY 2022 produced ones, purchased and used new in March 2023!

Last time I saw a steering wheel with that sort of degradation it was an 8 year old 2005 model Land Rover Discovery with 100,000 miles on it!

It can't be either of those.

Mine was purchased new by me in Nov 2021 and has only 10,000 on the clock. Doesn't matter if it's leather or plastic it shouldn't have gone like that. Been driving for almost 50 years and had both leather and plastic steering wheels and that has never happened.

My details from purchase details say it's black leather.

Maybe it's “vegan” leather?

You should have a 3-year warranty.... go to your dealer
