I think its quite a balanced review John, maybe a bit bland, but I guess that's tha Autocar Way!

I enjoyed it, thanks for posting. Similar in tone to their review of the new plus 8 in 1968 I thought. One thing though, using the words strong and stiff interchangeably...is that a schoolboy error? Is the aluminium car actually stronger than the old steel car?

Depends if they are using mech eng terms. Aluminium is not good if you pull it vs steel i.e. stree/ stran = Youngs modulus. But the tub structure is stiffer than a steel chassis as it bends less. I'll stop now as I am sure a mech eng will comment on my poor understanding as a chem eng.

Thanks for posting Made an interesting read but you are right, blandly written with some reading energy sapping language.
4 or 5 years ago when Morgan announced their new CX platform, I was intrigued at the claim that it was 100% stiffer than the previous Ali bonded aero chassis and remember posting on here an attempt at a humorous scale guide to Morgan chassis stiffness which probably went down like crashing kingpin in a crater shaped pothole but 100% stiffer suggests (in my unmathematic mind), twice as stiff.
Have I got that right?
I’m guessing the stiffness scale is complex and curved !

I imagine that stiffness is measured in at least three dimensions, and at varying levels of twist, so I think you have the right idea Stewart. The paradox I suppose, is that more stiffness in the chassis will need more suspension compliance, but the limited travel must create a headache for the engineers.

Maybe Morgan should have stuck to wooden chassis

The test car very much has Dave’s preferred colour!
