Hi all

Finally taking delivery of an Aero S3 on 11/02/2012. Been setting up my garage in the interim (went for an air chamber in the end). I want to put the car on a battery charger whilst garaged. I've purchased a CTEK 3.6 and cigarette adapter. It states the socket must be permanent live to use this, i.e. the socket must work when the ignition is switched off. I'm fairly certain this is the case - can anyone confirm please.

Cheers

Rob

get some pictures up then, just bought an aeromax and garage informed this is the root to trickle charge so would assume its got to be permanent live, but just watch the advise fly in

My Cteks are connected straight to the battery terminals on both cars as quite frankly I find it easier to attach and take off from outside the car, rather than lean in or get in to reach.

I used to attach my S2 via the cigarette adapter and it worked fine so I'm guessing the S3 would be the same?

Yep the socket is live.
However in my experience charging through the socket would occasionally freak out the dash and light everything up like a Christmas tree on my S2 and S4. With the S4 I changed to use a heavy duty charger that I connect direct to the battery terminals.

Found this route entirely reliable and also means you are not leaving windows open or trapping the lead in a door or window which might damage the seals over time...

Congrats on the new car - we need pictures!

Thanks All - good advice all round.

Thinking I will leave the windows cracked as the car will be inside an air chamber and this will allow air to flow around interior

Pictures will be on here w/c 13/02/2012.

I'm with Andy on this. Had about 9 years use from first Ctek and 2nd (bought online at half the price confused) is doing stirling service after 4 years and constant use.
