Tighten Porsche centrelocks to 440lbs, who depresses the brake if you are on your own?

Having spent some years patrolling A roads and Motorways I have lost count of how many vehicles got punctures at speed 70ish and by the time they could pull over the tyre was shredded, all the gunk in the world won't help that. First thing I did with my Ford ST was buy a space saver from flea bay. Sadly with my wife's Audi they have put the battery in the wheel well so I can't do the same.

By using your handy ratchet spreader/clamp that you will have to hand, along with all the other kit...? You just place a short plank of wood across the front of the drivers seat with a towel behind the plank to protect the beautifully stitched seat leather and place the other end of the spreader against the brake pedal, and ratchet it up good and tight.... Simples..?????

Absolutely. spot on, the wife's Merc has no spare tyre as its been taken up by the Ad blue tank, so if a tyre shreds then you are stuck. She had Smarts for years with no spare and we put a glup inside the tyre that's supposed to seal the puncture almost instantaneously, which did work with the exception of one blowout caused by hitting a plank of wood (which fell off the lorry in front of us) and completely deflated the tyre and partially off the rim..

So when you are out in your smart centre lock wheels Porsche on your own do they have a special compartment for the necessary plank of wood and towel amongst the other bits and pieces. I've always found many Porsches are generally not particular generous with their luggage space, so do you have to leave the weekend bag at home, or send on ahead first!

My 2005/ 2006 has tube type rims.

I had to use my spare twice..

My 2003 4/4 also has tubed tyres; I always carry a spare tube, along with the normal rear mounted spare wheel.
My 3 year old Mini has ‘run-flat’ tyres, as yet never tested.

John, seems to me these days that perhaps fewer of the population, might know how to jack up a car and replace a punctured wheel with a spare safely, might even want to..? That the most folk will have cell phones and breakdown insurance, it seems it may be generally accepted that we have lost yet another aspect of self reliance in our culture.... Hmm...?

Those of us who might be otherwise minded have in most instances have less and less options available. when my good lady bought her Evoque circa 7 years ago, we had to pay extra to have a spare wheel, though while she grew up having been taught by her dad how to change to a spare wheel, what are the chances of many ladies managing the weights involved in the average 4x4 that it seems so many of them seem to prefer to drive..?

I have over the years resolved five roadside punctures for others who all fortunately had spare wheels, though on one occasion the spare was flat and almost bald...

For me it seems the logical question might be, would Morgan owners in general prefer to have a spare or not....?

Sue has already found an inexpensive solution to the lack of music in the Plus 4, while I quite enjoyed listening to the pure mechanical backdrop sans music, I knew it would be short lived. We have a blue tooth JBL Flipessential2 speaker coupled to her phone with the speaker placed in the small glove box opening (creating a sound box effect )and now we have both radio and pre-recorded music. We will get a double USB adaptor for the cigarette lighter socket to keep the phone and JBL speaker charged on longer trips. For the money the JBL speaker has a very rich and deep range of surround sound and much better than any sound I've experienced out of standard trad speaker setup. Whilst the speaker is facing you in the glovebox the sound also appears to be coming from behind you as well. Great value speaker for £75, we often use it whilst watching TV saves having a TV soundbar. Need to get a cradle for her phone so I can see the directions when we use it as a sat nav.
