I traded through a dealer and was only interested in the cost to change which helped. The fact the car is now on sale a very small margin for the dealer reflects the market.

John, when did Morgan make a Roadster Brookyn, must be a rare model!! Pretty poor ad for a main dealer.

Obviously named after Mt Beckham`s son, to make it more attractive to a wider audience....(-:

'...only interested in the cost to change'. Yes, that's a fair point and that's how I see it as well. The issue is that I am not after another Morgan, and the pre-war cars I do want are either with private owners, or with dealers who want to offer half my asking price as a P/X for a car which is still priced pre-Covid shall we say? Pre-war cars seem to have dropped a lot, but of course to take advantage of that I need to find someone who wants a Morgan in P/X.

I have just taken mine off sale - had no genuine interest all summer. Am I a dreamer? Price too high? Possibly. But I'd say there are a lot of dreamers on the other side as well - the internet just makes it too easy to be a timewaster. So far I have had all the usual 'what will you take for it?' emails, calls from auction houses absolutely promising the earth, and not a few calls from people who turn out to have no intention of buying my car or any other. The best (worst?) so far was a clearly knowledgeable chap who asked me detailed questions for the best part of an hour, knew a lot about the 4/4, appeared to be a MSCC member etc, and who simply failed to turn up having booked a viewing. All subsequent emails went unanswered. The only decent offer was from Tim Ayres for a P/X against a +8; it was more than fair, but the car wasn't for me.
Oh well, there's always next year... One of the problems with selling privately is having to deal with "tyre kickers". On the other hand, in a falling market, it's not unreasonable to expect that potential buyers will be wanting a "bargain" price. I recently purchased a really nice Plus 8 at substantially below the owners original asking price. To be fair the owner had already dropped the price three times and the car had been for sale for more than a year. Mine was the only offer he received !

MM, perhaps join the VSCC, and go along to local meetings and events, even advertise in their mag or website, which could spread the word around, given the likely age group of membership may be similar to TM types, there may well be folk who could be interested in your Mog...
Best of luck in your search, though have to admit I thought to market my +8 some years back when a return to Porsche ownership was on the cards, but I never had the patience to deal with tyre kickers, and reading of Spannerjuggler`s tale of selling his Mog a few years before.... I just kept the old thing, and boy am I glad now that I did...(-:

Thanks, I have previously been in the VSCC, but as I am not interested in the competition side it didn't do much for me. The problem is that those pre-war clubs I am a member of mostly have an ageing membership - they are selling their cars because they can no longer get in/drive/maintain their cars, so a low slung Morgan is unlikely to appeal I think! I am unlikely to persuade many octogenarians to swap their Rolls-Royce 20/25 for a Morgan...
I also do understand the point about it being a falling market, but there seems to be a big gap between what buyers see as a 'bargain price' and what I consider a 'fair price'. Unfortunately a bear market does bring out the chancers looking to make a fast buck.
I am fortunate in not having to sell, so I shall preserve my dignity by keeping it for a while. On a good day I do enjoy it, but there just aren't enough good days.
Thanks all for the advice and chance to seek an opinion, it does help.

Central Morgan have just dropped the price on my old Brooklands. The blurb on the add is not right. If you are interested then call me. Yep, full of errors John, like this..."Blu-Mel Black Baker Lite Four Spoke Steering Wheel"
