As TM Images is not part of TalkMorgan, I cannot resolve this directly,

However, I am confused - is it one image on the Image site or is it all that AVG don’t like? If it is one, and that image is someone’s avatar, for example, I can delink that in their profile, hence it should stop the AVG software blocking that particular image. If, however, it is all photos from the image site, I can’t help and that will be down to AVG or the owners of TM-Images to resolve.

I've just installed AVG to test it out and I can see that it's the entire TM-IMG site that the software is (erroneously) blocking. It believes it is a scam website designed to steal your personal data.

As mentioned above, you can work around it by adding TM-IMG.COM as an exception in the AVG settings. None of the other AV products have an issue and it's difficult to understand how an image can perform phishing anyway, so the risks are low to zero. If a picture asks for your bank details, just ignore it!

Now to try an uninstall AVG!

Update: It seems you don't need an AVG subscription to report an issue. I've logged it at www.avg.com/en-ww/report-false-positive

I suggest anyone who is having the issue does the same thing.

Ian I appreciate your investigations into this problem, the engineer in me is shouting (compromise) loudly that the identified image that is causing the issue should be removed.
Or am I missing something coffee

Logic tells me if I carried out the advise I am leaving my PC wide open to any further corrupted tm image files which does not appeal to me.

Again, with my very basic knowledge, I think this is an AVG problem. not a TM or TM-Img one.

It may be that, because TM-Img converts a photo address to a different BBCode. that AVG thinks that it is a phishing scam. As Ian says, report it as a false positve and they may sort it out.. A quick google suggests it is a failry common issue with AVG.

My Norton is pretty good and has not picked up any issues.

Having just logged in on my desktop the problem is no longer there despite no dialogue or change of settings on my AVG - very interested to hear from Jon if he finds similar.

Maybe Ian reporting it to them has fixed it ?
That or the errant Laurens file has been removed ?

All good now this end so thanks lads you have provided the solution somehow as always, the top pub in the country cheers .

By coincidence, I've just had an email from Which? and it includes a report on anti-virus software. AVG is number 3 in their table, behind Bitdefender and Avast One (both also free).

Their review of AVG concludes:

Expert verdict: Solid protection and even some improvement on last year, such as with USB scanning. However, to rival the best, the 'warning' notifications need to be toned down to improve user experience and not cause unnecessary worry.

Ian, thanks for that it seems they are being over enthusiastic - better than the other way perhaps.

I have used them for 23 years now and have not been let down so maybe their approach is right.

Thanks for the info Ian, I've used the link to report a false positive

Despite setting up an exemption yesterday I'm still getting the Image site blocked, so I can't show the reports I get as I can't get onto tm-image.com at all, never had any issues with AVG in the past, it's even blocking images embedded on TM members posts.

I'm about to try 'passive mode' in Avast to see if that helps, (mine is the pukka paid up version, if that makes any difference)

Also reported Ian. I shall change my AV software if this continues. Adding tm-img to the exceptions list did not prevent the url: phishing arning and link blocking continuing.
