Hi All,
I suspect the answer to this query is "nope - can't be done" but I'll ask anyway.
My 2000 4/4 has headrest seats without the folding backrest. They go forward and back but the backrest does not fold, making access to the area behind difficult. I could replace the seats with ones with the folding backrest - not inexpensive... but wondered if there was some solution implemented by any of you clever engineers? I guess seat runners that arc the who whole seat forwards is a possibility..but maybe I would have seem mention of that before?
Thanks for your help.

Some vans and no doubt other sports cars have seat systems that allow the whole seat to arc forward as you suggest, thus a visit to a vehicle dismantlers might be thought worthwhile to check out the various systems that might be available and perhaps modified to fit...?

Very few alternative seat bases will fit because the gap between the transmission tunnel and inner sill area is so narrow. It's quite deceptive because the seat backs look a standard width. If you adapt runners to tilt the whole seat forward, they will need a locking mechanism, which became the standard years ago. Also bear in mind that your chassis crossmembers ahead of the seat and behind it have been drilled for the current runners, and so you may need to drill extra holes with replacement runners, which is not ideal. So sourcing the correct tilting backrest seats may be expensive, but is the simplest route.

He made spme excellent ones for me several years ago and they transformed my drive in my 2002 4/4. Heated seats and lumbar support!
