Shoe polish is mainly paraffin wax so it will work but obviously stain the hood as well Would dubbin be any good I wonder ?

mph ... that was another thought of mine (as I have some of that in a tin in the cupboard under the sink from when I used leather hiking-boots) ... thought of just wiping a stripe down the seams then rubbing it off to just leave what's settled in the stitching.
Seems like a lot of 'waxy, oily, waterproofy' things would do the job.

I used wax for my barbour jacket +1 👍 (Though my wax jacket came from Debenhams!) Bud 4/4 - Stanley Ah did it come with pockets
