We were asked to be part of the ONS Covid survey they used to gather data on spread, effects etc. it involved blood samples analysis. It was an added check for us, glad to help them, the incentives were a nice bonus as well. Still got some vouchers left too.
Mrs sospan is a retired nurse. I have a science background. We both see vaccines as a safety feature that may not prevent getting the illness but reducing the effects. Yes, not 100% but a significantly high success rate. We both had the reccomended jabs. First one gave me a headache and a day of feeling "grotty" but no side effects for later ones.
In Dec 2023 we both caught Covid a couple of weeks befor Christmas. confirmed by swab tests. No ill effects. Or so we thought!
In the following January mrs sospan had palpitations. Checks, tests done and the consultant said all ok with her heart but they were noting this as a long covid type side effect. The palpitations cleared within a month.
During the pandemic I thought that there was insufficient emphasis and explanation re the vaccines effect and which resulted in some ridiculous anti-vax propaganda. Also the lack of getting across the meaning of the statistics and the miniscule chances of bad effects. Similar for other vaccinations such as MMR. BIG publicity for the rare bad side effects cases that suggested to ill informed people that the risk was high.
We just had the shingles first jab. Sore arm and grotty the next day. On3 day of side effect versus pissible longvterm illness? A no-brainer to me.
Monkey Pox is the current fear generator so let's see how that is handled!

Same here and we met some lovely people that carried out the survey as a bonus and the Mrs got shopping vouchers which we sent down to our youngest and his wife in Kernow.

The good lady had an adverse effect to the first Omicron jab with a frantically racing heart and sweats but got ok overnight.

We have taken all the vaxs due and only caught it twice and recovered fully, the last time we caught (last month) it in Dublin Airport or on the plane from Exeter we thought, the only lingering effect she has is an altered change of taste so we count ourselves very fortunate.
