Great photo's John of an equally great event. Sad to hear you also had wiper arm issues though. One of our recent I.O.W. tour group had a similar experience on a Plus Four when one arm was lost completely and a second removed as very loose during journey down. Fortunately the remaining one was in front of driver. I've read elsewhere that the securing wedge over time forces the body of arm where it fits over drive splines into an oval, so loosening fixing. Clearly this is a self exaggerating situation as the arm is tightened further. Maybe the answer is to be found in the latest arms MMC are using which I believe have a thicker wall to arm at the attachment point thinking

Great write up John; really enjoyed reading it. Sounds like the perfect test of your CX in adverse weather!

An amazing adventure and very warm hospitality by the looks of it.

No potholes and a leak proof car as added bonus 👍

A wonderful trip, John, and great news that your Plus Four was a loyal companion rather than a killjoy. We enjoy a trip to Luxembourg from time to time, it's not that far from Cologne. Regarding potholes, come to North Rhine-Westphalia, we now have in some regions as many potholes as we do unpunctual trains. In Belgium, potholes may have some charm, but in Germany they are an unmistakable symptom of the state of the entire country.

Really sorry to read that as when we lived there in the mid seventies we thought the infrastructure was very good, At the time in UK we had a long line of Labour governmental decline and things were grim, so we can look forward to more of the same doh Starmer has 3 Rotweiller Bitches very much out of control wreaking financial havoc on the weak and elderly of society (New Labour).

Good luck going forward.

Living not far from you just at the border (50 meters!) near the Selfkant, I experience the German roads as relatively good, compared to other countries. I must say, our own country isn't that bad! What becomes more and more a problem in Germany are speed limits and works due to bridges which lacked maintainance for a long time! But we see this on a smaller scale in The Netherlands too! Our only high speed train is not allowed to go faster than 60 km/h at some places due to unstable viaducts!
