It’s a buyers market… Expect reserve will be £30k or just below. The market is flooded with CX and Trads which are not selling,. Yup - 395 Morgan's on offer on Car & Classics site, that includes the tripeds through to Aero Max. I don't recall ever seeing this many cars on sale.

Just curious about the logic and wisdom of buying almost "sight unseen" (I asked the auctioneers -- viewing is from 09:30 on the day of the auction at Sparkford, and not before). So no chance to see it, hear it, smell it, or drive it. If the hammer price were to be £30K then that would mean taking a £35K punt, hmmm maybe unwise Anyone on here know the car and/or driven it, maybe when it was at New Elms ? Sounds like a tragic case, bought for £81K then became an Estate Sale a year or so later -- significance of "SL" and "GWL" on a 66 plate ? (Registered Dec 2022 so it would originally have been a 72). And were the expected CX "issues" fixed ?

Peter, it is still under warranty as is my car. Krazy Horse & MMC were very good on warranty issues after I had it inspected at KH which showed a leaking rad. Central Morgan who I bought it from didn't spot the rad but the brake fix was done.
I bought my car first registered in May 22 in July with just 1900 miles for £57k & it was the cheapest dealer based car. So £35k plus 16% is a good deal if it goes for that.
I don't see why MMC wouldn't do the same for this car. But I agree buying at auction is risk

Thanks John, that's reassuring . Having never bought a car at auction I'm tempted enough to go along on the day (Sparkford's not too far from here, and Haynes is a fab museum), and take a look and maybe talk to other punters.

Maybe New Elms could help with info. My new rad by the way has a 2 year warranty

Looking at the auction photo it seems to have swirl pot fitted as the rad fix. The black & yellow hose in the last picture looks to be going to swirl pot.

Good spot. A potentially nice little earner for somebody in the trade (despite now being the "wrong time of year"). A logical outcome could be Tim (or a proxy) turning up at the auction, bidding say £35K and putting it back on the New Elms forecourt at a more realistic figure than previously ?

I know the car. It was purchased new by a friend and is a straight and honest car. He had health issues and passed away earlier this year. His widow is selling the car.

Tim is getting shot of the business so not likely 🙃
