It will be interesting to see where prices of late trads and early CX cars end up, they might drop below the trad price due to greater complexity and ownership costs. The attraction of a trad is the simplicity and with that less to go wrong as well as being more true to what a Morgan was I.e a Morgan Classic car.
It’s a buyers market, just bought a 2017 +4 GDI 2 seater for my Dad fully loaded in great spec and 14k for £29k. I was the only serious buyer in 6 months of advertising it albeit a higher price.

Why get obsessed with values of Morgans? You would not buy a BMW, Jaguar or any other so called premium car if you were worried about residual value. The days when Morgans were an appreciating asset are long gone with some notable exceptions, the market for so called traditional Morgans gets smaller & smaller all the time, the people who want one probably already have one, many are now sold on behalf of a deceased estate check the auction sales. I have had my Plus Six for 3 years and considered a new 24 year model. The cost to exchange was ridiculous and for what? The performance is the same, I don't need air bags, traction control and the new roof robs me of shoulder space, so I will stick enjoy my car and not worry about what it's going to be worth in 5 years time.

I was frankly only interested in the cost to change which was acceptable as the discount on the CX was far higher than the lower trade in on my trad.

I agree totally with Mikemog6 comments.. We briefly looked at the latest Plus Six, but as we have already upgraded our 2020 cars suspension with the SSL system and seemingly sorted most of its original QC issues, both in its build and materials used, it seems we would gain little overall to change it. One of the reasons we purchased our car was its feel of muscle/rawness, I actually like this and in my view each MY is now slowly moving from this... I am comfortable in it driving roof up or down so why change.. Its not our daily user, its our fun car.. We go places in it and enjoy the ride....

Quality control issues at the higher base price are undoubtedly a disincentive to buy for many people, plus of course the well known unintended acceleration issue on kickdown, causing loss of rear end traction and, in quite a few well documented cases, going straight to the scene of the accident.
I suppose it is asking too much of any business to continue to keep customers on a several years backlog, just to sustain their s/h values for which the factory earns nothing extra? However, I wonder whether they have now killed the goose that laid the golden egg by making more cars than the market wants - all that dealer stock etc?
A well known dealer is reported to have said that he just could not recommend a four or a six, made before 2023. What does that do to residuals?
