Of the AC cars, I always liked the AC Ace / Bristol best. The slightly more discreet design compared to the Cobra is simply great.

Now the car is being reissued by AC Heritage. The car is certainly a Morgan competitor. With higher price (175000 Pounds).

Unfortunately, as with the CX, the modern headlights destroy a illusion.

I agree, although the early Cobra 289 were still fairly discreet.

For a more affordable alternative the cars from Hawk are very well engineered replicas. I've seen one or two at shows and you'd be hard pushed to tell them from the original.

As mph says, aside from a little lip round the wheel-arches the 289 Cobra was very similar (always preferred them to the bulgy 'steroid' look of the 427).... though the AC without even the lip does have just the edge for design purity to my eye .... I reckon for that money you could spec any darned headlight that took your fancy!! (They do led versions of the 'tripod' headlights if you want really old looking.)

They certainly are a gratuitously pretty car! ... and getting more so as we become so familiar with the software designed 'bland-mobiles' that litter the roads! 🙂

I was thinking you could save some money buying an original, but not the case.

Wish I hadn't started looking, now I want one !

Interesting Ace replica with a Daimler V8 engine.

And a 289 Cobra replica - very high standard.

I would be wary of any seller that listed the metric capacity (cc) of the engine with the cubic inch capacity (ci) of the Cobra doh

I do like those Ace/289 body style cars, that green one is only 15 to 20 miles away. Hmmm, so tempting.
