So this season the car has had the grand total of...... one leisure run out.
Two trips total, the first taking it to get an MOT.

Time to sell !? Id hate to see it go, but its a crying shame its not getting used.

Anyone else with this conundrum.

You’re not saying why it’s not getting used.

The fact that you've raised the topic might mean that your mind is already made up.......
They are nice to look at in the garage but it's a machine and it needs to be used....

It’s not a good time to sell a Morgan.. just use it and enjoy it.. maybe hide the keys to your other cars and daily it for a week..

I don't think you are alone Bonesie. I find myself asking the same thing for a few years now. I think I've put more miles on it getting it serviced and MOT'd than drives out.

For me it's the emotional attachment I have and being fortunate to be in a position that I feel ok just having it, but it is an expensive garage ornament to say the least!

Each person has their reasons to keep a car so only you will know if it's time to move on. However, as others have said, if you do sell it, wait until Spring if you can. I have pushed myself to get out in it more, however, for me at least it felt a bit forced so now it's just used for a short drive to grab a brew or a drive into town to run an errand. Not its natural environment to say the least!

I'm no mileage baron by a long way and there's often a reason not to take the Morgan out. For the last five years we were away three days childminding. This year should have been much better, but Covid laid us out until April, but after that we've tried to get out and about. When we do go out it's always over 40 miles and often 100. Turning out for the Mog event should be an obvious trip out and yet so few bother.

Low mileage Morgans need extra attention and that's my thing. So it's a complete experience. But for us, the annual Highlands trip makes it all worthwhile.

One day I will have to consider selling on. Today is not that day. Nor is tomorrow, or the day after.

I went through exactly the same a couple of years ago. Amazingly I even had a buyer lined up but then went for one last trip (over to the Suffolk coast - I was living in Bedfordshire at the time) and decided I had to keep it. Certainly haven't regretted that decision.

For me the tipping point on whether to keep or let go hinges around whether each time you consider taking the car out, you find more reasons not to, than reasons to take it out. Having said that if some of the reasons are of the nature that can be fixed, then all things being equal get them fixed and remove them from the equation. Some people get a low mileage car and then have a problem with. overly increasing the mileage in case it affects value, or your Insurance annual mileage declaration is too low and so on.

So if those fixable reasons are taken out of the equation and still the balance of reasons is still not to take the car out, maybe it's time to move it on.

I found by questioning what I realistically want from my Morgan before I purchased the Plus 4, recognised more its abilities and also potential limitations, I have found a better balance as to when I want to use the car and as a result has increased my appreciation of it, even if its just on short runs on sunny days and limiting my exposure to cold wet and windy pain the the arse roof up driving days when the Morgan is not always at its best.

We generally find we are doing other bits and bobs over the weekend. The wife never really pushes to go out in it either. So looking at excuses, to get the car out of the garage I need to move a motorbike thats in the garage and another car outside in front of the garage Then I have this whole D-dance putting the tin top and bike back in the mogs place as where I am is single lane access for others so cannot keep cars laying about in the way. Lol
First world problems.

Like I said. ONE proper outing this year, that was to the coast and back !!
