The full English was wonderful on trips to Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle. A little more expensive than London cafes but well worth it on expenses & the tax man paid ! Double bubble……
MM
PS I miss train travel but it is just too expensive v the car and the flexibility of car travel. Parking is my only issue these days.
I looked at my old trainspotting books which I just could not death throw out……

I remember British Rail breakfasts. They were impressive. And they included decent marmalade.

Railways are in my blood. Nearly all the male family were signalmen or train crew. The local shed had 100 locomotives. Grandfather moved to Mexborough to work on the footplate after briefly fighting in WW1.

So we went everywhere by train because there was free or discounted travel. Until the late forties, the furthest they could get from Mexborough was Yarmouth, probably because it was LNER only. After that it was anywhere, so as a kid we went to Bournemouth. For train buffs, that was via Bath Geeen Park and over the S&D. I still have patchy memories of that time.

Always loved real trains
The food on this Flying Scotsman trip was great although a bit expensive and was a lovely recentish birthday present from my wife . She also enjoys steam travel.. I did a stream train driving experience some years back at Didcot Railway Centre
Need to put a Railway Museum visit on my bucket list .
Anyway back to watching England beating Ireland ……..just to annoy our new son in law and family. Might have to eat humble pie but…….
Best to all MM
PS Travelling by steam or Morganing is just so nostalgic and both have a certain smell attached to them, hot engine or sooty nutty slack !
