If you keep your battery on smart charger for extended periods without use suggest recycling it every three weeks or so so it runs briefly through full charge cycle. This will stir up the electrolyte on lead/acid batteries that otherwise could stratify and allow localised plate corrosion on areas of high acidity. Some of the smarter smart chargers do this automatically - check manual.

New battery installed & all is well. No warnings to go to a Mog dealer etc. I replaced like for like i.e. a new AGM but I wonder why we need that with no stop start function.

First of all, good to hear that the problem has been fixed.
I also don't understand why it has to be an AMG battery. These are the characteristics if such a battery is to be used:
Start-stop systems, Higher power requirements, Longer service life, Safety and comfort features, Electric and hybrid vehicles
Doesn't really apply to a CX Morgan

I don't think you need an Agm battery, but they do keep their charge a little bit longer. Em

Trouble is the bmw cars with this engine has the same. Maybe the OS module requires it. It would be interesting to know if any brave would has gone the cheaper route
