Both your points make a lot of sense, I hadn't realised the later one either so cheers for that.

I must transfer No1 daughter (lack of time) off the Morgan and replace her with our son as he is really up for a squirt on his own in it now he has reached 40 grin2

We don't have named driver policies in Italy. I suspect most people only have the compulsory insurance which covers damage or injuries caused by the driver but not your own car. For someone with no claims history that costs about 450 to 500 euro a year. Fully comprehensive insurance can cost around 1,800 or more a year depending on the car and the value insured.
I have no idea why Italy is so expensive for insurance, i would have thought that the number of fraudulent claims would not be all that different to other countries, and I don't see driving more dangerous here than elsewhere.

My youngest is now 24 but from the age of 21 he’s been insured on all my cars except the most expensive. But he’s currently insured on the Etype, Aero 8, etc etc.

my policy is quite big but not that expensive with Footman James. But on the back of my policy (and not affecting me in any way) he’s insured in his own stuff inc a ZO6 Vette, M3, 964 etc. all for £2k since he was 21 and not increased at all.

A lucky lad for sure but I’ve never understood insurance underwriting and how this comes to be. Not complaining.

I've driven in Italy and I'm not surprised they all drive like maniacs laugh

not sureif it is the same in Italy but here in the uk a major factor is third party injury claims. It doesnt take too many £5 million paraplegic claims to affect the average claims
