Not in any smug or smartarse way, but I've never bought anything (house, car, motorcycle, artwork, whatever) with a view to investment ... I acquire it for what it is and what I get out of using it, with no thought for future value ... my bank account may not be optimised but I have enjoyed a life largely stress-free as regards my belongings. Come's of being an old '60s hippy I guess.

If you do not have a short term task for the money I would be inclined to sit on it for now.

As mentioned the market high-low thingy is worth waiting for. Buy when the market is depressed and sell when it is strong as much as you can. Drive it to enjoy it but when the market returns sell it.

Our Aero S2 cost us £40k quite a long time ago. I am guessing I could just about move it on for £35-38k now. It has gone higher previously. Of course there have been noticeable costs associated with running it, less than a lot of other cars I could have chosen. It has given value and enjoyment to match that cost so I am not going to cry.

It depends on the need/value of extracting the money now.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Got a thing for 355’s - would probably have one if I had the garage space. Just had a look at prices - they seem to be holding up well, around £100k (with a fair bit of variance).

By all means Clemens, if you pm me your email I’ll gladly forward one of my good lady and myself. Can’t post images on here now as my VPN and anti virus don’t like the image gallery for their own reasons.

Ps. The only thing in life worth worrying about is friends and loved one’s health…The rest of life is like chewing gum, transitory.

Most contributors on here have far more years behind them than ahead of them.............
SO......Don't hang on to things that don't bring you joy, that you don't enjoy owning, don't use or.....don't want....!🤷🏻‍♂️
Life is too short, move the money in to something you do want.
Cars aren't investments, expect to lose money, if you don't it's a result, but as 'enthusiasts' I know we've all lost far more than we care to remember on 'toys'.
Drive it.....or sell it.....!

Your right, and there will probably be a lot on here who were brought up and worked in less affluent times who find it hard to spend money and probably have too many assets - thus paying 40% IHT when they peg it.

This will only increase in the future with pensions becoming taxable for IHT post 2027.

So spend it or lose it if your estate (assuming you are married and own an house) will be a £million+ (second death of you or spouse)
