Dave, may be easier (& more accurate) to just ping out the old one and get the number off the original, usually printed on the first paper flap of the concertina

I have removed the air filter from our 2020 Plus Six, the air filter fitted by the factory is a MAHLE LX 2077/3 the BMW ref number 13718507320 was also on the filter. I know this is as factory fitted, due to the manufacturing date stamped on the filter and the fact that none of the 10mm headed bolts that hold the filters retaining plate had ever been removed, they were still covered in the original underseal!.

The retaining plate under the wing comes off easily and the filter simply sides down and out from its retaining slots. The filter was fairly grubby along its lower edge where it is located by the retaining plate, the plate itself does not have an inner seal on it, so it may be worth taking it off and running a very fine silicon bead of 2mm along its inner edge, then allow it to completely go off and refit. We live down a messy and mostly wet country lane and the air filters retaining plate is in line with the front wheel spray, so I can see how water may have worked its way into the bottom of the filter.

A quick search of the internet in the UK showed a genuine replacement filter to have a lowest price between 13 to 19 pounds delivered.

FYI,

I did a bit of research and found a couple of equivalent manufacturers part numbers which maybe useful.

- Air filter is a Mahle lx2077/3
- bmw 1371 8507320
- Febi 100376
- Mann C24 025

Thanks both, especially for the seal advice. I do worry it is quite low down.

The air filter had water ingress a couple of inches up the element when we bought the mog I put a light bead of silicone around the ally joins where the panels meet and a good dose of waxoil. On my last service the air filter was like new except for a little dust where the water ingress used to be, Given its position going through deep water your asking for trouble but with the summer and autumn wee had I think it was a good fix.
