Clemens don't worry!
Then you are acting in accordance with the law!

Quote from ADAC:

There is no general winter tyre requirement in Germany, but instead a situational one. This means that in winter road conditions, i.e. black ice, slippery snow, slush, ice or frost, you are only allowed to drive with winter tyres.

I wish I did John, but sadly Auntie Rachel (no relation!) has it in for our side of the family too!

Paignton Zoo this morning not so lucky .. Apologies for non F/Bers.

We drove to Newton Abbot to pick up Heathers car and Dartmoor looked lovely from a distance.

Day 3 and the situation evolves in a predictable fashion. The bins still haven’t been collected and it now seems they won’t be either. The roads are truly filthy requiring windscreen washers every few minutes. The doctors surgery are short staffed as some staff can’t get in so appointments already delayed are being postponed. The cat refuses to go out and even when forced out comes straight back in! The tv aerial is working again but some homes in the hills are still without electricity. The forecast is ‘improving’ as we are due temperatures 10 degrees warmer by weekend. However storm ‘Bert’ will be bringing anything from 75 to 150mm of rain and 45 mph winds. Cracking!

We've still got several inches and no sign of a defrost yet as stayed below freezing point all day again, at some point SHMBO must have caught me looking bored as I've been 'encouraged' to lift the Dahlias which still looked amazing last week but the frost has now decimated

Have a chat with britmog on here he will tell you you all you need to know about living with it for most of the winter.

We see it here about once every 5 years and only a smattering. In 45 years we have only ever been snowed in once as we live on the English Riviera as the good lady suffers with the cold.

Yes Richard we have had about 1 meter of snow so far this winter with more expected next week, the snow you have just had is the storm we had 2 weeks ago. Today is a lovely clear blue skied 4C day with gorgeous views of the snow capped mountains, the cars are all fitted with their snow tyres, Horace Honda the Snowblower has had his first run of the season and the ski resorts have opened. Life is good, where would the Brits be if they couldn't complain about something.

We rarely see any snow and never this side of Xmas being so close to the coast, we rarely see a frost. It wasn't that long ago we use d to get TV reports of the lack of snow in Scotland post Xmas was affecting the ski resorts,

We are seeing much stronger, more frequent, heavier rain storms at this time of year carried up on the Gulf Stream from the Caribbean. We were having drinks with neighbours last night and we all were grateful that we have much lower tides at the moment as the next storm hits sometime soon.
