Just tested login & no they haven't !
Too right, I limit myself to the iphone for image site not risking playing around with the desktop AVG - does a great job for us for over 23 years now.

Don't wallet/bank or anything financial on the iphone so not bothered about AVG on it.
Sorry to disagree with you Richard but AVG clearly is not doing a great job for you.
It is a bit like the man falling off the skyscraper who resorted to his pocket handkerchief for a parachute: as he passed the 23rd floor he was heard to say "It's working for me so far" smile

We know each other well enough to disagree but I need to see for myself that for 23 years I have not been invaded by the gremlins, so that is a measure of success to me. I think passing the 23 floor would take a lot less than my subscription to run it’s course.
Have a good weekend Peter.

A further comment on this topic.

There is absolutely no problem with tm-img.com.
1. The site contains only images plus some information text.
2. The site is regularly monitored to ensure that no "strange" users try to use the site for nefarious purposes including, but not limited to spam advertising or profile links to sites that have nothing to do with Morgan cars. Any images or users that are not in compliance with our terms of use are cancelled, and, in some cases the IP address is blocked.
3. The only link on the site that relates to finance is a standard insert that opens PayPal in PayPal's secure site. This has been checked to ensure that it links to the correct legitimate PayPal site. As it opens a PayPal page it is a completely different site and no data passes through tm-img.com.
4. When all this problem with AVG surfaced I asked our service provider to check the site. They did a complete scan and reported back that there were no problems.
5. The site is not open to the general public and you must be a registered user to view or post images (with the excetion of direct links to an image).

I have a suspicion that AVG erroneously views this last point as suspicious. They have been advised that they are generating a false result many times but clearly customer service is not a priority for them.

That's interesting I always stay logged in to TM and TM-images but the problem which started on the 21/11/24 was still there until this afternoon when without my intervention it all started to work again. After Cooperman's post I checked again and all seemed well. So I went to TM-Images and logged out and then tried logging in again and the problem was back. So I disabled AVG Web shield briefly and logged back in to TM Images. I then closed the browser without logging out. Then I re-enabled AVG Web Shield and clicked on the TM Images link in my favourites and got straight back in. I then closed the browser, tried again and once more went straight back in. So it would seem that for the moment, the log in page for TM images is the one that AVG is having difficulty with. Don't you just love IT.

Or it could be an indication that you haven't had any attacks. How many threats does the AVG log say it intercepted, that would be the true measure. And of those, how many of them would Windows Defender not have caught?

As someone whose whole career was troubleshooting IT faults I find this an interesting problem. However, I've just bought a new Windows 11 laptop and there is no way I'm going to let AVG anywhere near it to do more testing. Take a look at Wikipedia to see some of the previous issues AVG has caused.

My local computer repair shop told me that Defender was all I needed with Win 10 as long as it was kept up to date. I have it set to update every time it is fired up. Now Ian agrees, I am totally happy that I'm safe.

I really do appreciate all the thought and comments that have gone into this little AVG tmimage anomally, but that is all it is in terms of my AVG package which is VPN, anti virus, driver updater and tune up it's ok for us for the time being.

The fruit phone is ok for posting photographs so it makes no real difference to me.

We get regular reports on tracking and threats sometimes requiring a restart.

Interestingly Windows Defender also reports regularly that all is well so stay put until AVG subscriptions have run their course. Having spent a working life in electronics engineering you go with proven equipment and 23 years is ok with us.

I'll read the Wiki later, thanks Ian

Tony, just a side note - Talk Morgan (TM) and TM-images are unrelated and not hosted on the same servers. TM-images was set up independently by some members of the community but is not on the same infrastructure or the same protocols as TM. Therefore, being logged into TM (or not) will have no effect on, positive or adverse, on how you access TM-images. Furthermore, Talk Morgan runs its own set of security profiles and software, which are not linked to, or related in anyway, to the image site.

From my side, Peter (of TM-images) has made it clear that he has done all he can to resolve this from his end - and does not believe there is any genuine issue with his site - therefore, this is starting to feel like the same topic being discussed over and over again, with nothing new being added. With that in mind, I'm going to close this thread (as much for Peter's sanity as my own) and if anyone feels the need to add anything beneficial to this topic (and there is some great detective work on the primary thread), please add it here.
